MISSION CIRCLE

The Mission Circle is a group of United Methodist Women who work on local mission projects, such as the Preemie Project, which makes hearts and hats for babies in the Neonatal Care Unit at local hospitals.
Meetings: 1st Wednesday of the month from 9:30- 11:30 am in the parlor of the Family Life Center.

BACKPACK MINISTRIES

The Backpack Ministries provides weekend food for students. We collect and package food for 7 schools (1 pre-school, 3 elementary schools, 2 middle schools and one high school) in our area for students that are identified by school counselors. For more information, contact Linda Hollis.

OTHER VARIOUS MINISTRIES

• Blessings Bags—For homeless (coordinated by our youth)

• North Greenville Crisis Ministry—Give food for local food pantry; serve at the pantry

• Pillowcase Project—Handmade pillowcase and care package for children in DSS custody

• Salkehatchie Summer Service—work alongside youth on home repair

• United Methodist Men—Various service projects; Home repairs for church members

• Various annual projects:

  • Buddy the Elf (teddy bears for hospitalized children)

Christmas Eve Offering

Each Christmas Eve, Travelers Rest UMC continues a sacred tradition by dedicating the entire Christmas Eve offering to support missional work—sharing Christ’s love through hope and care for neighbors near and far.

In 2025, the offering supported both global and local hunger ministries:

Global Impact: Rise Against Hunger
In late winter-early spring, TRUMC hosts Rise Against Hunger Meal Packing Event. In 2025, our congregation packed more than 20,000 meals for those experiencing hunger worldwide. With the community’s generosity, we packed over 30,000 meals in 2026.

Local Impact – Greenville District United Methodist Congregations
We will also support the Salem UMC and St. John UMC congregations in the Greenville District (now Anderson District) that are faithfully addressing food and housing insecurity through weekly meals, food pantries, and community blessing boxes. Though small in number, these churches are making a significant difference in their communities. Our Christmas Eve offering help sustain these vital ministries.
